Music of Domenico Scarlatti, Franz Liszt, Earl Wild,
Enrique Granados and Maurice Ravel

Originally from China, Dongni Xie is a first prize winner of seven international piano competitions. She is in demand throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, having performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Château de Fontainebleau (France), Dream Forest Art Center (South Korea), Gijon City Hall (Spain), and the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (US) and has been praised for her “bravura performance…mature and relaxed, perfectly in line with its composer’s presumed intention.” Having opened the 2017/2018 season of the Boulder Symphony Orchestra, she boasts featured artist appearances at many international music festivals, including the Imago Sloveniae (Slovenia), Festival ARTIS (Slovakia), and the August Music Festival (UK) to name but a few. She is a big supporter of young American musical talent, performing with the Debut Orchestra, Los Angeles’ premier youth orchestra, in 2016. Xie is not only respected as a performer, but also as an academic, invited to lecture at El Paso University (US) and Huzhou Normal University (China), and to deliver masterclasses at venues throughout China.

Xie is a leader in the interplay between classical and modern music, having founded In6ix, a sextet combining both jazz and classical styles. Xie successfully led her group on a tour throughout China in 2019, giving concerts and masterclasses. A recent co-founder of the concert series Live! Again, based in Dallas and Houston, she has brought a unique way to experience new music and modern arts.

Xie obtained her doctoral degree in Piano Performance at the University of North Texas under the guidance of Dr. Pamela Mia Paul, where she won a Teaching Fellowship. She received her B.M. at Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Chen Jiang, her M.M. at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University with Yong Hi Moon, and earned her Graduate Certificate at the University of Southern California with Norman Krieger. She is a recipient of the Meadows Artistic Scholarship Award, working with maestro Joaquín Achúcarro. Xie is an Adjunct Professor at Tarrant County College.
