Xie is not only respected as a performer, but also as an academic, invited to lecture at El Paso University (US) and Huzhou Normal University (China), and to deliver masterclasses at venues throughout China.
Xie is a leader in the interplay between classical and modern music, having founded In6ix, a sextet combining both jazz and classical styles. Again, based in Dallas and Houston, she has brought a unique way to experience new music and modern arts.
Xie obtained her doctoral degree in Piano Performance at the University of North Texas under the guidance of Dr. Pamela Mia Paul, where she won a Teaching Fellowship. She received her B.M. at Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Chen Jiang, her M.M. at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University with Yong Hi Moon, and earned her Graduate Certificate at the University of Southern California with Norman Krieger.
